About Mat

"My reason (why) I've chosen real estate investing is that I want to give back to my communities where i've grown up and where i live now. when i think back to my childhood, i often think of my mom who raised 4 kids on her own on public assistance. Now i am 62 years old, i have had a successful flooring business for over 30 years, i am still in pretty good health and i don't want to work in retail after i retire; i want to leave a better legacy for my kids. i truly believe in helping those in need and i always try to do what is right. what i really don't care for is violence, drama and those who disrespect the less fortunate; i strongly believe in family and the elderly" - Mat eddy (owner)

My History

My name is Matthew Eddy and I am from the North Shore area of Massachusetts. I am 62 years old and I am the father of 3 children, 1 girl and 2 boys. Matt Jr. who would be 43 years old, Josh who is 41 and my daughter Katrina who is 32. I am the grandfather to 3 grandchildren, 2 girls and 1 boy. The oldest is my granddaughter Brenda who is 9, Patrick is 7 and Kenna is 3 months.

I have been in the flooring trades since 1975 when I started  working for a small flooring outfit doing commercial and residential flooring . In 1987, I started my own flooring business. I have worked with homeowners, landlords, realtors, general contractors and rehabbers. I did all of the estimates, scheduling, ordering and payroll myself.

I did my first new build in 1991 in Saugus, MA which was a 1800 sqft ranch which became our family home until 2010. I was the project manager  for this new build, I hired all of the contractors and finished the project in 5 1/2 months.

I closed the doors to my business in 2010 and went to work for a large company that I had done flooring for, for about 19 years prior. This job was doing maintenance on 100+ single family homes and I was the maintenance coordinator for the apartments and single rooms. When minor and major problems occurred I was called in to coordinate contractors for clean ups and redos.

In June of 2018 I completed my 1600 sqft dream cabin home in Central Maine. I was the general contractor  for this project also. I did my due diligence, I met with a local realtor and she had showed me 26 properties, some had homes, others did not. After reviewing my notes, i decided on a 35 acre lot with no home, water or electricity hook up...yet.  I started talking with  anyone and everyone, asking who knew  any contractors  in the area who were masters of their given trades.  I  met with and interviewed many contractors, I showed them  my scope of work and got prices for everything from tree removal to excavating to the septic system and everything in between.  Please see the pictures below of the entire project in Maine!

While working on this project, I was living and working full time 3 1/2 hours away in Massachusetts. I coordinated and communicated with the bank and their inspector  so when phases were completed, I would have checks released to me to pay the contractors. I completed the interior work myself with a friend who is a carpenter doing 1X8 tongue and groove cedar boards on ceiling, walls and doors which equaled out to be a little over 10,000 lineal feet.

Where I am now

Today, I find myself at an advantage over new real estate investors because of my knowledge of working on homes and coordinating contractors. I am involved in a real estate course currently that I am taking very seriously. Flooring has been my passion for 40+ years and real estate investing has quickly become my new passion. I am very excited about my new adventure in real estate. I am surrounded by real estate coaches and very experienced investors that I can count on. With my proper due diligence on finding and purchasing the right properties and estimating repairs correctly, it will be an easy win-win-win situation for my lenders, clients and myself.

Hemlock Property Solutions has a few properties in the works that we are really excited about! Thank you for your time and consideration of using us. I look forward to helping homeowners and clients in need and building long term relationships with contractors, realtors, lenders  and landlords.
